

Carl Gene Talbert came into this world on July 8th 1931 in Cincinnati Ohio, the fifth of five children born to Paul and Lilian Talbert. Carl had two brothers, Donald and Robert and two sisters, Pauline and Carletta, who was Carl’s twin. All have preceded him in death.
Carl moved with his family to Winter Park Florida when he was 13. Carl attended Winter Park High School and eventually made his way to attend Lockhart Baptist Church where he met his bride to be, Carolyn Faye Kelley.
Carl and Faye were married on December 14th 1951. Carl had joined the army reserves and went into active duty in 1953. Carl was stationed at Fort Bragg and then spent time in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1955 with the rank of corporal.
Carl and Faye purchased a house in Orlando that year, and in 1957 welcomed their first son, Stephen Carl. Daughter Cynthia Sue, was born in 1959, followed by their second son, Scott Allen in 1964.
Carl had worked as a mechanic during his time in the armed services and followed that path in civilian life. He worked at an auto electric shop named Straub’s up until the time he opened his own business in Winter Park in 1966. Originally named Carl and Smitty’s Service, it eventually became Carl’s Auto Electric, and he ran it successfully up until his retirement in 2001.
Carl was a faithful member of Lockhart Baptist Church and served many years as a trustee, deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Carl and Faye enjoyed travelling and had numerous trips over the years. Europe, the Holy Lands, Hawaii, Caribbean cruises and Alaska were some of the highlights. Carl enjoyed music and photography and enjoyed tinkering on his computer in his later years.
Carl also greatly loved his grandchildren, his daughter Cynthia and husband Scott McAdams have one son, Tyler. Son Scott and Wife Cindy have 3 sons, Jacob, Zachery and Caleb. The four grandsons will be Carl’s pallbearers.
Those who know Carl, know he was a man of honesty, integrity and had a great sense of humor, all of which he kept until he left this earth on February 18th 2025. He will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am -11:00 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
