He retired from Lockheed Martin in 1991 as an inspector.
Carlton loved to work with his hands. His garage is full of various tools he used to build things like a replica of the barn from his childhood farm, or the numerous clocks he repaired. The garage also houses his beloved Miata he bought when he turned 80. He loved to play ping pong and claimed very few people could beat him.
Carlton was a lifelong Methodist, loved to go to church, and talked to everybody and anyone who was there. He made many dear friends through his church activities. He also was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, and was often seen in Buffalo Bills gear.
