Thank you Lord for bringing him to us, thank you for taking him home, thank you for allowing him to touch so many hearts and for showing us what it's like to live with strength, courage, and love.
Charles joined the Navy in 1960 and his last tour was aboard the USS Essex, a WWII carrier involved in the Cuban missile crisis blockade. He was brewer, salesman, and a restaurant entrepreneur. In 1976, his battle with his health began and he valiantly fought the long fight with lots of prayers, persistence, and an extraordinary attitude. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Windermere. He became a Mason in 1983, a memeber of the Bahia Shrine, and the Keystone Kops. He was also an Ambassador at large. Helping others was an important part of his life.
He was proceeded in death by his father Vincent and niece Becky. He was survived by his mother Edna Johnson, Peggy Johnson his loving wife of 48 years, two sons, Tim and Kelly, his grandchildren, Regan, Jessica, Tj, and Kadin, two sisters, Nancy and Rita (John), and his brother-in-law Pat (Mary Lou), as well as so many special relatives and his extended shriner and mason family.
In lieu of flowers the family graciously requests that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital Transportation Fund 2300 Pembrook Dr., Orlando, FL 32810 - this fund is to assist children needing orthopedic and burn care.
