I was remembering Danny and found this photo. We were friends at Holy Family when we were young. He was a great friend. We had a great time doing Odyssey of the Mind together. Danny is right behind me smiling in this photo, I think we were at a Magic Game. My family and I wanted to send prayers to Danny's family, you are all in our thoughts and our prayers. He is gone way to soon. I know everyone will miss him so much.

Danny, how proud I am of you.  I cherish the time we had together.

Karen and I moved away from St Louis four years before you were born.  I didn't get to spend much time with you in your early years.  However, in later years, when we retired to Florida to be near you and our family, I got to watch you grow up.

In these past few years we got to be buddies.  Yes, I was still Grandpa Joe, but I got to go zip lining with you and your sister, sky-diving with you and your dad, play golf with you, and watch you impress everyone with your wit and charm.  I loved visiting you at college and seeing your relationship with Alana.  

I will always have the fondest memories of hanging out in Brownwood...just you and I.  We listened to music and talked about our favorite songs.  How cool it was that we both enjoyed Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, and The Eagles!

You have been my grandson for 22 years and I love you so much as your grandpa!  I am sad that we won't have more time on this earth as best buddies.

God, I love you and will miss your presence here on earth.  Your spirit will always be in my mind and in my heart.


Danny was my grandson.  And he was just that . . .GRAND in so many ways.  He was kind, intelligent, handsome and funny.  He was generous, outgoing, sensitive and original.
Since I am  step-mother to his father,  I gained the nickname “WICKED “ from the family. It always made me smile when Dan introduced me as his “Wicked Step-Grandmother.”
Rest In Peace Danny.  You will be missed by so many.  I ❤️ You.

Danny and his family lived across the street from us in Chesterfield, MO.  Danny and Vito were buddies.  Whether putting on Batman, Spiderman, Superman costumes and talking in that low Batman voice climbing the backyard swingset/fort, or barefoot bicycling (always with helmets) attempting ramps, or on their Razor scooters barefoot, or sledding and getting kicked off the Meadowbrook CC golf course hills, or running around the lakehouse, or joining us at church and VBS. ..  It was one of those times when the boys were around 5 or 6 at church that stands out so tender in my recall.  As we were making our way from the crowded sanctuary to the parking lot, the hallway was busy.  Vito let out a huge sneeze.  Our pastor at the time was right there and said "God Bless you!"  and that drew unwanted attention to Vito (in his mind, not the loud sneeze).  He hurriedly continued to make his way toward the door without looking back said, "I don't' need a blessing," Danny paused with his response so innocently looking our pastor in the eye and said, "I'll  take a blessing."  Our pastor looked right at him and said, "You are blessed beyond words."  It was such a sweet memory of Danny and how even at a young age, he wanted  a connection to God.  I have no doubt Danny's safe and in very good company.   It was our blessing to know him and share with everyone the sadness of missing him now and the unfinished life he was building.   Continuing prayers for the whole family.  

Dan was one of the kindest souls I have ever known. From the moment we met, I knew that he was family. I cherish the moments that we would laugh until the point of tears together. He was such a role model in my life, showing me through his love for Alana, how a woman should be treated. He is my brother forever, and he is in my heart always. 

Danny was the first friend my son, Drew, met when we moved to Orlando in January 2003.  Danny had just moved from St. Louis, so they both started their first day of 1st grade together at Holy Family Catholic School in Sister Dorothy’s class and remained friends ever since. We have many great memories of Danny (after school get-togethers, HFCS volleyball games, etc.), but he was always the most kind and polite boy.  Drew and Danny went to different high schools, but remained friends during those years especially through their love of X-box and cars. Drew and Danny reconnected when they both started college at the University of Alabama in 2015. One of my favorite memories is when I took Drew and Danny to iFLY Indoor Skydiving for Drew’s 12th birthday…they had so much fun that day!  Fly free and fly high, Danny.     

Dan was one of the most caring individuals I have ever met. From the first second I met him, I knew I had found a great friend. He took me under his wing at Alabama and helped make the transfer process a breeze. Anytime I needed anything, Dan would always be there for me no matter what. From his selfless acts, to nights out, working out together, golfing, DJing and even nights in the room, Dan gave me some great memories that I will cherish forever. I'm so happy to have had Dan as a roommate and couldn't imagine the year without him. Rest easy buddy.

Looking back and reminiscing on the best memories I have throughout middle school and high school, it seems like Danny was involved in all of them. From warming the bench on the HFCS basketball team, to building bottle rockets and catapults for science olympiad, to walking home from Olympia every day only to meet an hour later to go fishing, to adventuring around Europe sophmore year of high school, to summers filled with playing soccer, there are endless memories that Danny was a part of, because he was able to make even the most dull moments memorable.  He was always fun to be around and was the friend you could turn to if you needed a good laugh. I am thankful for all of the memories we had together and to call Danny one of my closest friends. We’ll miss ya buddy!

So many amazing memories. From running around and jumping the fences in the neighborhood, playing just about every sport in the Norwalk's front yard, shoving gummy worms in our face at my 10th birthday party, and so many more. We grew apart over the years, but needless to say, some of my greatest childhood memories were because of Danny, and he's left a lasting impact on my life, as well as the lives of so many others around him. 
Rest easy Dan

Funny and talented. The brightest smile. Danny was always the hidden gem on our Odyssey Teams. Very low key until he put a costume on and then it he was on! The best Elvis ever. Danny was one of the friends that Emily had that friended me on Facebook. I think it was back in the day when all  the  kids wanted to increase their numbers so they friended even their old coach. I was happy to be a friend to Danny and to all of the team members I enjoyed hearing from them from time  to time, including Danny. I believe I still will, just from a little further away.  I’ll keep listening. I know he’ll reach back to his family and friends in ways we will all recognize. In a joke or song you hear. Maybe a movie or a picture you see. He’ll be there. Just have to keep
Listening and looking. 

Simply put, Danny was a real one. We had so many great times together. One of my favorites was when Danny, Ryan, and I went to Europe together during the summer of sophomore year (high school). All trip long was straight banter , from that Reese girl screaming at Ryan, to us just passing time on those bus rides. Aside from the location itself, it was Danny that made that trip special. Another classic yet great memory was all the hours spent playing every call of duty there was, while he would corner camp during search and destroy, or during FIFA pro clubs when we would all scream at Sierra to pass us the ball, just for one of us to miss the goal wide left, or even fortnite. Not to mention the times we would all strategically get off Xbox and go prank our other friends. He was always down and I could count on him for that. I definetly have to mention all the times we snuck into Holy Family to play soccer (or even St. Luke's, Braddock Park, and of course Mini Soccer) and how Danny was there almost every time, and although he is no "Messi", he would find the back of the net countlessly. You could always expect one goal out of him. Danny was one of my closest friends during middle school and high school and for that I will be forever grateful. The memories we have of you Danny are eternal. Rest easy beast.

Daniel was a classmate of mine at UA.  He was always extremely put together and had a gentleman like quality to him. We briefly shared our love for the same fashion sense and music. It is so heartbreaking to hear about his passing. I am sending love, strength, and prayers to his family and friends. Rest easy. 

So many laughs. We will miss you more than you can imagine.  

Thank you, sweet Daniel, for teaching us all unconditional love. Thank you for really seeing Alana and her beautiful soul.  Thank you for giving her the love, dedication, joy, and support she deserves. You were the definition of class, wisdom, kindness, fun, and charisma. You lit up a room and definitely lit up Alana’s life. I’m eternally grateful for you. Please watch over her. We will miss you forever. You deserved the best and I hope you are in a beautiful state of peace. We all love you so very much. 

Danny will be remembered as that one friend who I had that no matter what day it was, we would always share laughs together. Through our memories playing Xbox countless hours, mini hockey in my living room, soccer with friends, golfing, or simply sitting around making jokes, Danny was a big part of my life and a part of my closest friend group I’ve ever had. Danny, fly high and watch over us. Bye for now...

Danny will be remembered fondly in my prayers. Know that he is resting in the arms of Jesus and Blessed Mother Mary. Love, condolences, and prayers to his family. 

As one of my favorite colleagues, i favored his company which brought humor, and lighthearted conversations during our team lunch and even outside of work. With over two month of our work friendship, i have discovered Daniel's charismatic character who had ignited a strong bond with me and my New York team of professionals. Daniel was very ambitious about furthering his education, and constantly achieving.He was very driven to create a new life with new friends moving forward in his future life here in New York. He had a strong passion in becoming a part of this fast paced and vibrant culture. I personally, was ready to be a close friend with an intelligent and outgoing character as his if time had allowed. My condolences to the Family.

I was Danny's kindergarten teacher at Linda Vista Montessori School on Chesterfield, Missouri.  He was such a sweet and loving boy, and we have kept in touch over the past several years.  Danny used to make a game of sneaking into the classroom and going to work, knowing I would be surprised when I saw him.  He said I should call him "Mr. Slip-on-By", which I found very funny.  His sense of humor was very sophisticated for his age. 
I also remember how much he loved his sister, and how affectionate he was with her.
My daughters, and everyone else at school, adored Danny, and we are terribly sad to hear of his passing.  Much love to the Schwering family.
