I worked with Debbie for many years at the hotel. She was a sweet loving soul and heaven gained an angel. I pray to see her again one day.

The "family album" was a walk through Debbies life showing how much love she had to give, how much she loved life and how much she loved her family.  It brought back memories of Russ and I visiting them showing photos where we were at their home, sitting on that swing,  playing with their cockatiel, looking at pictures together and hearing beautiful stories she shared about her family.  I miss our phone visits and seeing them.

A few words that best describe why we loved Debbie and I feel the loss of a special friend:

PATRIOTIC: She and Dewey loved their country and were great supporters of our military with pride in each of their  military family members and her Uncle "Rut," Russ Snell, my WWII 101st Airborne "hero" husband. (Rosemary and Russ were parents of Jane & Lisa)

FAMILY ORIENTED, HISTORIAN: Every phone call and visit she went out of her way to get the family all together, take us to their homes or visit her beloved Uncle Dick. She could talk for hours sharing stories, history, look at family photos as we shared similar,  humorous memories. How I wish I had recorded all she shared.:  

PROFESSIONAL:  Because of all the world-wide souvenirs in their home, I said, "You must love to travel". She told me stories of the treasures and who gave it to her,  her clients from working at the Rosen Hotel in Orlando.  She was a valuable employee because of her loyalty, hard work, efficiency, and friendliness which brought tourist back to the same hotel year after year and they always asked for Debbie.  For those reasons the owner was a friend of Debbie.  .  When we had the privilege of meeting him he told us how much she was appreciated, because she was too humble to tell us those things. 

HOSPITABLE:  She could have been a professional Tour Guide (and rourists would have returned every vacation and asked for her).  Every day that we were there she had the day planned out: Whether it was to see the results of hurricanes, upside down building architecture, Alligator Farm,  beautiful shops or taking a canal boat ride past homes of the rich and famous before going to one of their favorite restaurants, every moment was delightful with her. She was friendly, warm, loving, supportive, generous and I was honored that we became special friends.  I will miss our phone chats and birthday calls.



Debbie is my cousin. Our Grandma Mitchell (her Dad’s and my Mom’s Mother) babysat a lot for Debbie when she was a child. Then my sister Jane was born and Grandma spent a lot of time with her. By the time I came along, Grandma always called me “Debbie-er-Janie-er-Lisa”! So I shared Debbie’s name when it came to our Grandma. My memories of Debbie are that she was always such a fun person and also funny. She moved to Florida when I was still pretty young, so I regret that I missed out on many happy years of being a part of each other’s lives, but I’m grateful to have been in her family. I will always remember her sense of humor and love for her family. Rest in peace, dearest Debbie.

We have so many wonderful memories of Debbie.  She was always cheerful and very loving to us when we saw her during our visits to Florida to see mom and dad.  They were her Aunt Sally and Uncle Dick and she was like a daughter to them.   After Sally died Debbie was a major support to her Uncle Dick.  Visiting him frequently, inviting him to family gatherings and accompanying him to the opera.   This  was Debbie...always helpful, cheerful and loving.  Even the patrons she served when she worked said the same.  Year after year many came back to see her because they loved who she was.  Debbie enjoyed people and being with them and she especially enjoyed being with her family.  Every time we visited we got to see the latest pictures of her children and grandchildren.   Debbie will be missed by many.

Sweet Debbie was like a big sister to me growing up in southern Indiana. We had so much fun playing and learning together at our Grandma Josie Wisehart’s house.  As adults, Debbie living in Florida and me in France, our lives were quite different, yet Debbie always understood me. We could go for a few years without seeing each other; Debbie was always sweet and supportive, as if we had seen each other every day of our lives. 
A captivating storyteller, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, aunt, sister and, for me, cousin and friend, her kindness, care and love will live on and on for so many people whose lives she touched.

We were part of the Rosen Hotel gang, worked together for over 30 years she was a very sweet worker and a sweet friend  always had lovely things to say to me and my family. She will be missed so sorry for your loss.
