DONALD RAY LINDAMOOD. Born May 24, 1929 in Dayton, Ohio to Oren Michael Lindamood and Ethel Lindamood, who predeceased him. Don grew up on his father's farm in Oxford, Ohio. As a young man, he worked as a butcher for Kroger before entering the US Army during the Korean war. He married Doris Foley and had one child, Chris Lindamood, who survived him. The marriage did not survive. Upon leaving the service, he came to Orlando, Florida and began work as a butcher and later meat market manager for a now defunct grocery chain, for whom he worked 27 years. He drew a small pension for more years than he worked for them, which is sweet revenge. He loved to travel, especially cruises of which he enjoyed many. He married Ruth Stephenson of Ocoee, Florida in 1957-a marriage made in Heaven to his "Good Wife". She predeceased him after over 30 years of marriage. He and Ruth travelled through most US states, portions of Canada, and to Mexico City just after the 1968 Olympics. They especially loved to travel in Europe, and bought a 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle, "Frenchie", in Germany, travelling to Germany, France, England, Scotland, Berlin and Munich. During the height of the Cold War, he and Ruth cruised the Danube on a Russian ship from Vienna to Yalta, and once took a 4 day cruise out of Helsinki to then Leningrad, now St. Petersburg. They travelled to China, and after Ruth's passing to New Zealand on the trip they would have made together had she not passed of cancer. He later shared many happy moments with his dear friend, Joyce Greenlee and her daughters, Dawn and Lynne. He successfully fought cancer, drove himself to the hospital while having a heart attack, recovered from a broken leg, and drove his car till last May, when he swapped it for a golf cart. He worked at the Navy Commissary as a butcher, but loved travel so much he wanted to work at an airport, first at Sanford, then started at OIA when he was 70 until the heart attack 14 years later motivated him to retire. We bought a house in Esplanade, a retirement community in Clermont he truly loved and had lots of friends. His last trip was a 14 day cruise out of Port Canaveral to Bermuda, the Azores, and 3 ports in Spain on April 19, 2025. Unfortunately, he caught 2 different flu variants from which he never really recovered. He was making a recovery through physical therapy 5 times a week, but had another fall from which he did not recover. He will be sorely missed. He passed just after midnight on Thursday, July 31, 2025. A visitation for Don will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A graveside service will occur Friday, August 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
