

Earl “Ted” Sherrod Jr. was born on August 6, 1956, to the late Mattie Ruth Hackett and Earl Sherrod Sr., in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He passed away peacefully at home, July 2, 2025. He was affectionally known as Ted or Teddy by friends and family and was the eldest of 4 siblings. Ted was spiritual and had a close connection to his faith. He was Baptized at an early age at Bright Hope Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA. He was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System, graduating from Olney High School in 1974.
Ted went on to receive his Associate’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. Ted was passionate about the sciences and worked in the pharmaceutical industry for Smith Kline Beachum and Pfizer. After relocating, Ted worked in the commercial chemistry industry for several companies including AI Dupont.
He met the love of his life, Priscilla Sherrod, and joined in holy matrimony on July 27, 1985, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their union was blessed with two children, Sean in 1987 and Kyle in 1989.
Ted was known for his love of basketball, music, specifically R&B and Jazz, and recreations like bowling, walking, and playing cards: pinochle. Over the years, Ted met and befriended many as the family moved frequently and was known for his generous spirit. He was often referred to as “GQ” because of his fashion sense and style. Above all, his greatest passion is his family who survive him.
Ted leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Priscilla Sherrod, children: Tewan, Tiana, Sean, and Kyle; grandchildren: Yasmin, Mya, Harper, and Kendall; sisters: Debbie Thomas (Bill) and Sandy Willams (Keith), and many cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, and two special cousins: Renee Bailey and Anthony Bailey.
A gathering for Earl will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A reception will occur Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 2:45 PM to 4:45 PM, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
