Daughter of Reverend Tomas Rico Soltero and Roselia Cortes, born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Youngest of 8, Edna was the life of the party. Words that describe her: Christian, mother, friend, caregiver, loving, fashionable, outgoing, secretary, a great cook and awesome grandmother. She gave up a couple of years of her life to take care of her granddaughter Elia whom she has joined in Heaven. She would travel on a yearly basis to visit her grandkids Mario, Elia and Elena.
Before her stroke, she was a very independent woman, enjoying her retirement life which she shared with Botitas, her Siamese cat. She enjoyed shopping and participating in the community at her church Iglesia Metodista Unida de Rio Piedras. She came to live her last years of life with Ricardo and Edna in the States and lived at the Ocoee Health Care Center where her presence was definitely felt. They knew her by her dances, songs, and special sayings. She would wait every day for her daughter’s or her sister’s phone calls, or visits from Ricardo (her son-in-law).
Being from such a strong Christian family, she was always let me know that she was ready to join the Lord by pointing at Heaven and putting her hands together as if she was going to sleep. As she left this world, we sang to her “Estamos de fiesta con Jesus”.
She is survived by her children Edna Leticia and Ricardo Borrero, Heriberto Tomas and Kellie Borges, grandkids Mario, Ruby, and Elena, her sisters Roselia (Tuty), Aura Elia (Pupa) in Puerto Rico, and brother Amado Puerto Rico in New York, nephews, nieces, cousins, and brother-in-law.
We would like to let you know of her funeral service that will be Saturday, June 20th at 2:00 pm. She will be observed at Dignity Funeral Home and buried at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Edna is resting in Peace with the Lord.
