

Edward Wallace Wieder passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on January 11, 1931, in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, he was known for his loving spirit, light-hearted humor, and unwavering dedication to family and community.
He served his country on active duty in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked as a police officer before building a career in the United States Postal Service, from which he retired as Supervisor/Postmaster.
Edward was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the Lincoln Engine Company No. 2 Volunteer Fire Department. During retirement, he continued his lifelong commitment to service by volunteering with the Orange County Friends of the Library, Neighborhood Watch, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for many years.
Edward's interests reflected his inquisitive, creative spirit and practical abilities. He loved volunteering, reading, music, crafting, traveling, and embracing new technology. He was a remarkably capable, self-taught craftsman who took great joy in tackling home projects of every kind. Above all, Edward cherished his family deeply. He adored his wife and loved ones, finding his greatest joy in shared gatherings, birthday celebrations, and everyday milestones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David W. and Virginia W. Wieder, and his siblings, Loraine, Dorothy, Ruth, and David. He is survived by his loving wife, Sara, sister, Virginia, children, Edward (Marita), Kenneth (Irene), Kathy (Todd), Bob (Cherie), Robert (Elin), and Rebecca (Michael); 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
A Gathering of Family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026 from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:30 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Edward’s memory to the “Friends of the Library” with the Orange County Library System (https://ocls.org/support-library/donate).
Edward was loving, kind, and truly special. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his legacy of warmth, service, and devotion will endure in the hearts of his family and community forever.
