Evelyn W. Moon

Evelyn grew up in Manchester, Iowa and made a career as a Women’s Fashion Buyer for Killian’s Department Store in Cedar Rapids before moving to Orlando with her husband, Lee, and their three children, Stephen, Scott, and little Sandra Lee, in the 1960’s. This intelligent, witty, hard-working woman raised her kids to be responsible, respectful, well-disciplined, and, of course, fashion-minded. And man, could Evelyn tell stories! From her “…faster than he was smart…” football-hero brother, Virgil, to all the fun she and Lee had with their friends in Iowa and Florida, to the fun (and occasional mischief) the kids had when they were young...her stories gave me the sense she experienced a fulfilling life.

Sadly, she lost her husband, Lee to severe diabetes and five years later lost her son, Scott, when he died in his sleep at the young age of 34. Despite having to live with the pain of those losses, Evelyn loved life…she loved her family, her friends, and she absolutely LOVED college football! Always a Hawkeye fan at heart, Evelyn started doing the Gator Chomp the minute Scott headed off to the University of Florida, and she was counting the days to this season’s first kickoff!

May she rest in peace at the right hand of God.
