Evelyn Marie Piscitello, 82, of Kissimmee, Florida passed away on Monday July 15, 2013. She was born on December 5, 1930 in Garrett, Indiana to the late Pete and Edna Sherman, and was preceded in death by her loving husband Ralph and siblings Paul, Kenny, and Mary. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her sons Ralph (Kate) Piscitello, Tony Piscitello, Pete (Joan) Piscitello, and Vinnie (Vickie) Piscitello; daughter; Elicia (Kevin) Morgan; seven grandchildren (Matt, Gina, Peter Jr., Christina, John, Rachael and Nick); and four great grandchildren (Emma, Dominic, Michael, and Daisy Rae). After her family’s move to New Jersey at a young age, Evelyn was drawn to the sport of roller skating. She competed in competitions in dance, figures, and speed skating. After graduating from Manasquan High School in Manasquan, NJ, she took her love of skating to the next level by being selected to participate in the Vanities, the roller skating version of the Ice Capades. This enabled her to travel the country, including Canada, performing for many thousands of fans. During this time, she also realized her second love - “teaching.” She began teaching girl scouts at a local rink that led to more intense training of individuals who went on to compete in national competitions. After meeting Ralph Piscitello, her third love, they were married at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Asbury Park, NJ on May 1, 1955, and then started her fourth love - raising 5 “outstanding” children, as you hear her tell the story. Being available anytime for her children. whether it was with homework, clean clothes, something special for dinner, or just to talk, she was always our biggest fan. As many of us were active in sports, she attended almost all the games, and we can still remember hearing her cheer us on over the top of all the other people in the stands. At first we were a little embarrassed, as other kids came up to us and said our mom was really loud, but over time, we realized that the other kids wished their parents would come to their games and cheer for them. In 1976, Evelyn and Ralph packed up the family in their brown panel station wagon and headed south to Miami, FL. After settling in and getting her children in school, she rekindled her love for skating. She went back to get her instructor recertification in artistic roller skating, and instructed students of all ages. After her youngest child graduated high school, Evelyn, Ralph, and Elicia moved north to Orlando, FL where her son, Tony, managed a rink. She immediately began to teach students at her son’s rink and continued teaching until retiring to enjoy her grandchildren. Even though she retired from teaching, she continued to skate for enjoyment into her mid-70s. Evelyn with be greatly missed by her loving family and friends, but we know that she is now reunited with her loving husband of 46 years, Ralph. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Consulate Health Care of Kissimmee.
