Ghislaine Normil Olivier was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on June 9th, 1963. She was the daughter of Jeanine Normil and Phèdre Joseph. She attended primary school in Port-au-Prince and graduated from Ophee Noir High School. After graduating high school in 1985, Ghislaine immigrated to the United States where she resided in Brooklyn, NY with her Aunt and several family members.
In 1986, through her cousin James, Ghislaine met Jean Willy Olivier in New York. They were married June 16, 1990 and welcomed their first child, Wesley Olivier, on April 21st,1992. They had two more children: Marvin Olivier born on May 25th, 1993 and Bethilda Olivier born on October 17th, 1994, later moving to Jersey City, NJ to raise their children. Ghislaine was a very hard worker striving to provide the best for her family. She established and spent most of her career in healthcare starting as a CNA and then becoming an LPN in 1998. In 2000, she furthered her education to become a registered nurse. She loved her work dearly, cherishing the connections and rapport with her patients and colleagues alike.
In 2002, while still maintaining residence in New Jersey, the family moved to Orlando, FL. She fell in love with the weather, open spaces, and homes. This was evident in her passion for real estate and interior design widely known among friends and family.
Ghislaine was blessed with a large family whom she loved and cherished dearly. Family was always central to her life. She often expressed gratitude to her Aunt Romaine who brought her to the United States, caring for her and helping her to adjust here after her mother’s passing. Throughout her battle with cancer, Ghislaine drew strength from her family and friends valuing their support, encouragement, and prayers. On May 18th, 2024, Ghislaine passed away from complications from her illness after a year and a half long battle. She is survived by her loving husband Willy; her children Wesley, Marvin, and Bethilda; her siblings Phèdre Joseph, Luckner Joseph, Fedner Normil, Claire Andre Joseph, Ginette Joseph, and Virginie Normil. She is preceded in death by her brothers Guy Joseph and Yverle Normil.
