Gilberto Sanchez

Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Bob lived in many places throughout his life before settling in Brewton, where he embraced the slower pace of country living. He loved being outdoors, tending to his garden, raising animals, and enjoying the simple pleasures of nature. A devoted Chicago Cubs fan, Bob also had a passion for wrestling and boxing.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Crucita Sanchez; his brothers Johnny, Hector, and Tony; his sister Marjorie; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is survived by his loving partner of 26 years, Lynn Cole, along with her children and grandchildren; his son Roberto “Tito” (Tameka) Sanchez, their five children, and grandchildren; his daughter Elizabeth Vermilya and her two children; as well as their mother, Ana Sanchez; along with his eldest daughter Lisa (Brian) Labelle, their three children, and grandchildren.

Bob is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Bill (Lucy) Sanchez, Izzy (Ana) Sanchez, Jimmie (Patty) Sanchez, Pete (Nancy) Sanchez, Olga (Brian) Khort, Joann (Angel) Cabrera, and Awilda Mayoral—along with their children and grandchildren.

He leaves behind a large extended family and many dear friends who will deeply miss his presence, laughter, and love.

A viewing for Gilberto will be held Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 3:00 PM, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734. A commital will occur Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 4:00 PM.
