Gloria Laverne Weeks Keene

Keene, Gloria Laverne Weeks, 80, of Orlando, Florida made her journey to heaven on February 23, 2012. Many people know her as Laverne. She graduated from Orlando High School in 1949. Laverne worked in retail and retired from the accounting department of Sears, Roebuck & Co. in 1985.

She was known for her faith, strength, kindness, and selflessness. Her family and church always came first. She was always a devoted person to anyone who would let her into their heart.

In July 1951, she married John Lee Weeks and had 3 children, and fostered one child Annecé Linton Mills. John met his maker at an early age of 46, June 20, 1976. Seven years later she met Guy Allen Keene and married in October if 1983. Together they have enjoyed retirement life with hobbies such as: gardening, hunting, traveling, and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. Allen left her side to be in heaven September 1, 2000.

She was also predeceased in death by her parents, Mertice E. Newham and Carl C. Newham. Her sister and brother-in-law (Glenda Joyce Price and Robert Price) recently passed and are awaiting her.

She is survived by her 3 children: John Douglas Weeks (wife Diane), Karen Weeks Bryant (husband Johnny), and Dean Austin Weeks. Also survived by 9 grandchildren (Rick, Melissa, Jay, Shawn, Kenny, Amber, Ashlee, Katie, and John). Laverne was also blessed with 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way (Sierra, Connor, Wyatt, Rick Jr., Destiny , Courtney, plus the new Natalie Ann!)

Her memory, love, and joy will live on in our hearts. We will miss her, but she will always be with us in spirit!
