Aunt Jean will be sadly missed! Although I had not seen her since Aunt Dorothy died, she has had a fond place in my heart. Her gentle spirit, sense of humor and loving smile welcomed us each time we were there in Orlando. Those times together will be missed. Praying for all of you: Randy, Doug & family. A dynasty is over; mom you are now with dad, his parents, brothers and sisters, the circle is complete.  

Mom, you took a chance on Doug and me almost 50 years ago when you and dad adopted us.  I hope we have lived a good enough life to make you proud; thank you for choosing us.  I know that losing dad left emptiness inside you that no amount of rationalization could fill.  But I do know that for the past few months you found dad's old love letters, written to you many years ago, and that you read them.  I firmly believe you knew you were going home to be with him soon.  And sadly you were.  Mom, I still see ND licking your face to wake you up once you had passed and again as they were taking you out on the gurney to the funeral home.  Your boys loved you deeply.

Mom and dad bought a place in Ocala many years ago.  In fact Doug still lives there.  I believe they bought it so that they could have a quiet place to go when the pace of the world got too hectic.  Mom however never allowed her 60-70 hour work week as a housewife to interfere with taking care of her family.  I can still see mom outside digging the many holes for the posts on which barbwire would be strung.  She carried and laid hundreds of bricks for the floor to the garage.   She went with dad and fished, hunted, and just relaxed in those woods.  I can still remember dad taking mom for a ride on his Aerial 1000 cc motorcycle almost dropping it several times.  

As a child you allowed me to be curious and explore even though that many times I got into mischief.  Like when I sold the family car to purchase a 71 Nova for myself and then left home and stayed with a friend; Or the time when during finals in college I was out in an orange grove trying to help a friend get unstuck just to get caught in the mud.

I remember you telling me that after WWII dad would not go to bed without a glass of milk or something on his stomach.  This was because he was a prisoner of war.  Food was always around our house and you found it so difficult to throw away anything, you keep everything.  With that being said you were still a person with simple needs and wants.  All you desired was the love of your husband, family, and a few select close friends.

Friends like Tracy Roberts who said she cannot put into words what she felt and feels for Jean.  Jean was always there with Bull to take care of Tracy, Dorothy, or anyone they could.  Tracy said she could not count the times that Bull and Jean would come to whichever ER, hospital, or abode to just sit and comfort her.  Neither mom nor dad ever said a bad word about any situation or anyone.  If they didn't like or approve of something they just dropped it.  Tracy has said many times she looked to Jean as a second mother figure.  She has lost a great friend and she says no one will be able to replace that part of her life.

There have been studies which show a persons thoughts show up in their facial features.  I noticed from looking at the many pictures taken over these many years that mom and dad looked more like brother and sister than husband and wife there at the end.  They lived together, enjoyed common experiences, thought alike and they looked alike.  I know for some reason I will never fail to derive a secret comfort and companionship from just the thought of mom.
