Helen "Darmstadler" Markowitz of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully on May 19, 2013. Helen was born in the Bronx, New York on September 14, 1917. She was the oldest of three sisters. She attended Hunter College and became a third grade teacher. Later, she and her late husband of 59 years Saul Markowitz opened "S&H" Card Shop in Jamaica Queens. Soon after they ran a family liquor store on 43rd St. in Manhattan until moving to Orlando, Fl. in 1980. Helen worked fulltime as a manger of Shell World, Kissimmee, Fl. until she was 85. She loved reading, movies, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a very loving, optimistic, strong, & liberal spirit. Her memory of detail & stories was amazing. Helen is survived by daughter Marilyn Riccio; grandson Mezo Riccio: great grandson Maximo Riccio. She will be greatly missed & forever in our hearts.
