Hemraj Jaimangal (aka Hemnauth or Henry), age 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023, at ORMC Hospital in Orlando, Florida, due to an unexpected accident. He was born on July 6, 1951, in Georgetown, Guyana, to Bascom (Jack) and Rajpatie Jaimangal. Hemnauth was the 7th of 10 children.
Hemnauth married Lakhrani (Chandra) and together had 3 gorgeous daughters and a supportive mother-in law (aka Betty Persaud/Tetrie Tillariah/Granny). As a young couple, they fearlessly migrated from Guyana to New York City in 1973, leaving their two daughters (Devi & Shantie) and Granny “back home”. Hemnauth and Chandra began building a new life, started gaining stability and success, while facing life’s many challenges. Finally, in 1977, this couple returned to Guyana with a new addition, a daughter Beena, to reunite the family and return to New York City with their daughter’s and mother-in law. Hemnauth came to the United States and was a factory worker and worked multiple jobs to make ends meet. He managed to further educate himself and became an Operating Engineer. He followed this career path for the duration of his employment years. He proudly worked for Rockefeller Center, United Nations, followed by Tishman Speyer Properties. On August 31, 2017, Hemnauth retired and shortly after relocated to Florida.
From childhood to adulthood, he was known to be mischievous, bold, fearless, and daring. However, he possessed a heart full of faith, love, and dedication for those he cared for. He loved connecting with others and cherished his familial bonds. It brought him great joy to help others and was always a phone call away. He enjoyed various forms of construction, and always had endless upcoming projects or creations; he was a visionary.
Hemnauth is loved and survived by his wife of 54 years, Lakhrani (Chandra); daughters, Devi, Shantie, and Beena; grandchildren, Matthew (Ganesh), Sunita, Shivani, and Darryl Jr (Lakshman); son-in-
laws, Darryl and Michael; brothers, Sonalall, Rudolph, Mado (MJ), Paris; sisters, Leila (Latchman), Rita (Jasoda), and Savitri (Gomatee); as well as a multitude of beloved nieces and nephews.
As his soul moves on, Hemnauth will be remembered by many, and his words of guidance and teachings will be his legacy. Jai Shri Ram!
