Henry Arthur Muller died peacefully at Brookdale’s Madison house assisted living facility in Dr. Phillips, Florida on May 27th 2013. His son James Muller and Nancy, his daughter-in-law, were at his side. He had been a resident of Madison House for two and a half years during which he enjoyed excellent accommodation and care.
Mr. Muller was born in New Orleans, LA on August 23, 1917. He married the former Jeanne Marie Patin of New Roads, LA on July 31.1939. The couple had one son James Muller born on June 27, 1944. He attended Jesuit High School and Loyola University. He was employed by the Department of the Army Transportation Corps at the Port of New Orleans where he worked until 1967 then at 3rd Army Headquarters in Atlanta, GA. He retired in 1973 after 35 years of service and moved to Newnan, GA. In 1992 Henry and Jeanne moved to Orlando, FL in close proximity to his son. They acquired a home in the Williamsburg community west of Sea World. Jeanne was experiencing health problems prior to the move. The move is thought to have lengthened her lifetime; however, she died on December 12, 1997. Henry was 80 years old at the time and in good health. He continued to reside in Williamsburg until January 2010 when he became a resident of the Madison House assisted living facility.
Henry was always a person that wanted to help people and be of value. He was involved in the homeowners committee at Williamsburg until he was 90+. He made many friends and helped a lot of people in the community. He was an usher at Holy Family Catholic Church for over 10 years and contributed generously to many building and expansion drives. He donated well over half of his pension to solicitations by mail and phone. He gave to all kinds of church organizations, various charities, advocate groups, humane societies, veterans groups, and high principled political campaigns. James counseled his father that some of the organizations did not qualify as tax deductible and some perhaps were even run by unscrupulous fund raisers. Henry’s retort is that he wanted to do some good and if the organizations were not on the up-and-up; shame on them. He was just that kind of person. He was blessed with a long and relatively healthy life. His family and friends will miss him.
There will be a memorial mass for Henry at 10AM on June 12th in the daily chapel of Holy Family Catholic Church, 5125 South Apopka-Vineland Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Orlando Union Rescue Mission.
