She graduated from Falcudade de Pedagogia de Bage University in Brasil, and was a school teacher and legal secretary in Brasil.
Iara moved to the United States in 1969 and married Tolbert "Ronnie" Norwood on September 25, 1970.
In the US, she first worked as a Governess and then in Marketing and Sales, which she loved.
Iara had a passion for working, the beach and she never met a stranger, always engaging in conversations.
She is survived by her children, Lorena Norwood, Lorenn Norwood, Jasonn Norwood and Ney Norwood; her grandchildren, Lucas and Savannah Norwood, niece, Ana Hogerheide and sister in law, Juavue Handy.
Iara was predeceased by her loving husband Ronnie in 2024 and her siblings, Ruth, Silvia, Joao, Ivone, Ney and Tulia.
