Jim was born on May 5, 1934, to James and Claire Cox in Atlantic City, New Jersey moving later to Baltimore, Maryland, and then to Orlando in 1959. Jim worked with Martin Company, now Lockheed Martin. Later he owned and operated Maranatha Realty and Semiran Construction Company building new homes for 43 years. He enjoyed building and was very devoted to serving his customers. In addition to being a successful businessman, Jim was also an inventor and holds 2 patents. But Jim’s biggest passion was serving the Lord with all his heart and using every opportunity to share his faith in the Lord with those he came in contact with. He was a Christian and member of Church at the Cross, formerly First Baptist Church of Central Florida, for 60 years. He joyfully and faithfully taught Sunday school for 55 years and held many other positions in the church. Jim not only loved his family and extended family, he also loved his country. He was very proud of serving his country for 7 years in the U.S. Marine Corps (Once a Marine, Always a Marine). But his greatest accomplishment was helping his family and friends to establish a personal relationship with the Lord. Jim never met a stranger and loved everyone. He was the kindest, sweetest, giving, compassionate, and sympathetic man you would ever meet.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife LaRue who he loved so dearly, his son Jim Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, 2 grandchildren, and many other loving family members. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Dana George from Anderson, Indiana.
Though we will miss Jim greatly, we have the comfort to know he is spending eternity with his Savior Jesus Christ.
