James S. Jones

Major James S. Jones, RET U.S. Air Force, 86, died August 11, 2011 in Clermont, FL. He was born on December 24, 1924 in Haynes, Arkansas to the late Richard L. and Camilla B. (Taylor) Jones. Jim joined the, then Army Air Corps and went onto serve 24 years for the Air Force. He saw duty in Japan, Germany, England and Greenland as well as all over the United States. Mr. Jones saw service during WWII, The Korean War and Vietnam. He survived a major plane crash as well as bailing out of a disabled B-29. Jim retired out of B-52’s stationed at McCoy A.F.B., Pine Castle, FL. Survivors included his beloved wife of 67 years, Bonnie; loving father to, Richard, David and Janet Weaver; proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed. There will be a Celebration of Life Gathering held at 2 pm, Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
