

He was born in West Frankfort, IL on September 11, 1940, to Vernon Ward Peak and Eva Avaril Todd. Jim was married to his wife Doris "Janie" Jane Peak on December 11, 1974. This year would have been their 50th anniversary.
During Jim's early years in West Frankfort, he served as one of the youngest volunteer firemen, worked for his dad in their family-owned furniture and appliance store, and worked for a local funeral home. Throughout Jim's life, he owned and operated several different businesses - Peak Appliances (West Frankfort, IL), Peak Boats & Marina (West Frankfort, IL & Houston, TX), and Peak Financial Corp. (Houston, TX & Orlando, FL).
During all seasons of Jim's life, you could often find him on the water. Jim enjoyed barefoot water skiing as a young adult and cruising around different lakes with family and friends in Illinois, Texas, and Florida throughout his entire life.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Janie, two daughters and son, Julie Peak (David Hightower), Jaceon Peak, and Jandie (Steven) Gill, and grandchildren, Erin Hightower, Austin Peak, Savannah Gill, Hailey Gill, Zachary Gill, and James Peak.
Jim is preceded in death by his dad and mom, Vernon and Avaril Peak, brother, Dexter Peak, and son, James "Jimmy" Wendell Peak, II.
A visitation for Jim will be held Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida 34734. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, Florida 34734.
