He had one sibling, Barbara Jean Cooper and one son John III.(Kristy). He had two step-daughters, Dawn Marie Rowland (Michael) and Gina Rose DeMonte, who pre-deceased him. He had five grandchildren; Chelsea Hardison (Derek) , Shelby Chapman(Kyle) , Jesse Donovan, Anthony Thomas(Terrin) and Sarah Rowland. He also had seven great-grandchildren.
He was a volunteer fireman for a short time but his heart was in trucking. One of his first jobs was delivering jet fuel from the west to east coast of Florida. He worked at Southland Distribution Center for over 15 years and met the love of his life Rose Aiello DeMonte. In 1993 Southland closed it's doors and he found employment at Consolidated Freightways. CF also closed it's doors and he worked for ABF until his retirement in 2008. Which he enjoyed..
