John Allen Gelzer

John Allen Gelzer, 79, of Orlando, FL passed away on January 31, 2014. Known as “Mr. John” and “Allen,” he was born in Dorchester County, South Carolina to the late Albert and Hattie Gelzer on February 28, 1934. John was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He lived in Florida for over 60 years and worked in the construction industry as a concrete finisher for a majority of his life. He raised 3 children with his wife, Betty. John will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

John was preceded in his passing by 3 sisters Brazella Ladson, Maggie Livingston, and Vanzlee Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Gelzer; Daughters Lawanna Gelzer and Sheila Rainey (Marcus); Son Simon Gelzer (Michelle); and 3 Sisters Margreen Burton, Edith Campbell, and Arthurbell Johnson; 7 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734.

Service will take place at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 9, 2014, followed by Entombment at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
