

Kathleen “Kathy” D. Janeczek, 73, of Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 20th, 2023. She was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on August 4th, 1949 to the late Thomas Melvin Duryee and Margaret Hoffman Duryee. She married the love of her life, Michael Stephen Janeczek, in New Brunswick, NJ on November 8, 1969. Kathy began teaching in the Willingboro Township Schools in NJ in 1970 and continued until 1974. After vacationing in Orlando at Disney, the couple moved to the most magical place on earth in June 1975. She returned to teaching elementary school at Mollie Ray in Orlando, FL from 1979-1981. In 1981, she began teaching at St. Andrew Catholic School, where she dedicated herself for more than 30 years until she retired. She loved teaching 1st grade and spent most of her years in that grade. She was also a regular RCIA teacher at Holy Family.
Kathy loved spending time with her family. Her four grandchildren kept her busy with many baseball and basketball games and their piano recitals and band concerts. She also enjoyed watching her grandsons lead singing, speeches, and prayer. Kathy was a Magic season ticket holder and took her children to countless games as they were growing up. She made sure everyone was together for every holiday and birthday. Kathy was married to Michael Janeczek for 43 years until he went home to heaven in 2012. Her children and grandchildren loved to spend time with her and considered her the wisest woman they knew.
Kathy is preceded in death by her spouse Michael S. Janeczek, father Thomas M. Duryee, uncle John “Jay” Hoffman, and brother-in-law Richard Hendricks. She is survived by her children: son Mike Janeczek (Lori Janeczek), daughter Karen Woods (Jeremy Woods), mother Margaret Duryee, four grandsons: Brighton Taylor, Cortland Janeczek, Dufflin Janeczek, and Benjamin Woods, sisters-in-law Mary Ann Hendricks and Betty Jane Perrone, and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida.
