Khalique J. (Ben-G) Welch

Khalique Jamal Welch (BEN-G) was born on March 16, 1985 in Far Rockaway, New York to Oscar Johnson and Mary Alice Welch. Khalique entered into eternal rest on June 28, 2014. He was raised in Orlando, Florida by his mom, Cynthia Johnson. He attended Hiawassee Elementary School, Robinswood Middle School and West Orange High School. He was a well-known artist out of Orlando, Florida that has created quite a following throughout the Southeast through the release of multiple mixtapes including “Everyone’s A Hater Volumes 1 and 2. BEN-G was discovered by Mr. Shaff through a mutual associate in Orlando. “BEN-G has that superstar appeal, I could pick him out of a crowd of thousands,” says Shaff. BEN-G had many inspirations throughout his 15 years of rapping including some of hip-hops most creative artist such as Wu-Tang’s ODB, Nas, and Busta Rhymes just to name a few, but says that his love for music keeps him rapping. He did shows through Florida, Georgia and New York including opening shows for Young Jeezy, Haitian Fresh, Lil Bossie, Plies as well as being asked to open up for the Shop Boyz on their Canadian Tour durian February 2008. He leaves to cherish his memory forever his loving parents, Oscar & Cynthia Johnson; mother, Mary Alice Welch; paternal grandmother, Gwendolyn Johnson, Jamaica, WI; brothers, Anthony Johnson and his wife, Jamaica, WI, David Johnson, Orlando, FL, Jarvis (Nicola) Johnson, Brooklyn, NY, Jabbar (Valerie) Johnson, Winter Garden, FL, Jayvon Johnson, Jamaica, WI, Joshua Johnson, Jamaica, WI, Hernandez Johnson, Cuba; sisters, Jessica (Lyndalle) Johnson, Brooklyn, NY, Shanelle Hampton and fiancé, Far Rockaway, NY, Genesis Welch, NY, special cousin, Gina Rodriguez and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. He will be missed and we shall see him again. Visitation will be Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 12:00 pm, Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
