Lloyd was the youngest son of Roy and Sadie Earnst Ridgley, born September 25, 1925.
Lloyd proudly served his country during World War II from November 1943 until May 1947. He served with the United States Navy in the South Pacific on the LCI, the smallest ocean going vessel at the time of his service career. Lloyd lost one of his brothers (Roy Burnis) in the Invasion of Normandy, June 1944. Lloyd would often discuss this in his later years, since the two brothers were only 15 months apart in age. This occurred while Lloyd was in the South Pacific, and had quite a bearing on him, but he was a proud soldier throughout his life and enjoyed being a member of the American Legion for over 70 years. It was very important to him to assist in any way he could help his military buddies. Lloyd was always first to help in that area as a Very Proud Navy Serviceman.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Frances Abell Ridgley; a Son, Jerald W. Ridgley (and wife Lorraine) of Pleasant View, Tennessee; Daughter,
Vicki Sue Davis (and husband Gary) of Clarksville, Tennessee; and Daughter Debra Anne Greco (and husband Salvatore) of Orlando, Florida.
Lloyd is also survived by four grandsons and one granddaughter; also four great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Lloyd is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved very, very much.
Lloyd is also survived by two cousins, those being: Pauline Scranton of Bridgeport, Illinois, and Frances Arnold of Parkersburg, Illinois.
Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Sadie Earnst Ridgley; and five brothers: Everett, Estes, Donald, Charles, and Roy Burnis.
Lloyd and Frances Abell Ridgley were married on December 18th, 1964, at Gallatin County, Illinois and just recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. This was a most important and memorable milestone to Lloyd and Fran.
Memorial services are being planned, but are incomplete at the present time, however, tentatively planned for July 2, 2015, which was a special day for both Lloyd and Frances.
