He was born in Pennington Gap, Virginia on May 9, 1933 to the late Thomas & Maude (Stapleton) Carter. He later moved to Ohio where he spent many of his childhood years. Son of coal mining parents, Lonzo was raised to be a hard worker; at the age of 11, he took a job in a bakery before school in the mornings. He trained as a medical technician in Cleveland, Ohio, and soon after he was drafted into the US Army and served bravely in the Korean War.
In the years that followed, Lonzo learned various trades for a life filled with variety. He took on the role as a medical technician in Miami, Florida, and later traveled back to Ohio where he worked as an accountant in the construction industry. He then merged those two careers in using his accounting in the hospital. After that, he followed his best friend Art to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he worked as an office manager. He rounded off his career life with 10 years working at Disney World as a cast member in their gift shop.
Lonzo outlived many of his loved ones, but enjoyed the privilege of intersecting with his buddy Art during many eras, his dear friend who cared for him to the end.
He was preceded in death by his dear parents, sister Hazel Parks of West Carrollton, Ohio, sister Ressie Sharp of West Carrollton, Ohio, brother Eugene Carter of Grove City, Ohio, nephew Jeff Sharp of West Carrollton, Ohio, and niece Linda Sharp of West Carrollton, Ohio.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
