

Lucy Lucilda Gordon was born in Clarendon, Jamaica on September 21, 1925 to the late Felix Thomas and Lilly Blackwood. She was one of seven girls. Her sisters Gertrude, Ethlyn, Thelma, Olga and Isola preceded her in death. Her baby sister Norma will miss her. Her brother Wilberforce Thomas also preceded her in death. She met and married the love of her life, Frank Gordon Sr., who went on to be with the Lord on January 4, 2009. Lucy loved and cared for their eight children, Elaine, Clayton, Joan, Hulric, Robert, Marcia, Frank and Veleta. Clayton and Hulric preceded her in death to be with the Lord.
She was a talented and accomplished dressmaker, known for her creativity and meticulous attention to detail. Lucy came to the United States in the late 1960’s. She and Frank settled in Brooklyn, New York where she dedicated her life to caring for others as a certified nursing assistant. She touched countless lives with her compassion and skills at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She retired after working there for over 20 years.
After retiring, they moved to Orlando, Florida where she met and cherished her many friends. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and she was a cherished member of the North Orlando Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Family and friends alike will remember Lucy not only for her accomplishments, but for her loving heart, her gentle smile, comedic personality and her unwavering devotion to God. Lucy’s legacy of love, dedication, and faith will live on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her children, grandchildren, and all who knew her.
Lucy’s 18 grandchildren include Nivette, Paulette, Denise, Derron, Anthony, Olesha (deceased), Clayton, Candace, Rochelle, Michelle, Natasha, Brenton, Robert, Aisha, Ron, Kara, Jenna, and Olecia. She also leaves over 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lucy was a woman of remarkable strength, grace, and warmth. She will be missed by her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, as she treated them as her own, Ron Sr., Tracey, Devolyn, and Marciana.
While she may have left this world, her spirit lives on. She lives on through the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the memories she made with others who will hold her close in their hearts and minds.
Her family invites all who knew and loved her to celebrate her extraordinary life—a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a soul that will never be forgotten.
