
LUSHINGTON G. ALLWOOD, age 78, of Orlando, Florida passed away on January 19, 2011. Mr. Allwood was born on November 3, 1932 in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies to the late Lushington and Mertell (Bartley) Allwood. He received his formal education on the island of Jamaica. Lushington met and fell in love with Vilma Barton as a teenager and married her in his early 20's. From that union four children were born. Derrick, also known as Gabre Wold, who preceded him in death, Repole, Lushington, Jr. and Andrea. In the mid 60's they moved to New York where he took a job at a Brokerage and Insurance Firm. Lushington also took other odd jobs to elevate his family. Lushington was a very loving man as well as a good provider. In his younger years he was avid swimmer. He also liked to have fun and enjoyed dancing. You could always find him socializing at the barber shop or engarded in a good game of poker. After his son's married he and Vilma retired to Orlando, Florida. Upon becoming board with retirement he took a job at The Walt Disney Company. In his latter years he had his youngest daughter, Nicole, who still resides in New York. he leaves to morn his wife, Vilma and sons, Repole and Lushington, Jr.; two daughters, Andrea and Nicole; two daughter-in-laws, a brother, Melborn; eleven grandchildren; and a host of great-grands, nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
