I met Maria in 1974 when I joined my new job at WUI.  We became great friends.  She was so charming and loving, young and very beautiful. I can't believe that she is gone.
After she moved to Florida we always stayed in touch.  We would talk on phone and positively remembered on our respective birthdays.  I did not get her call on my birthday last year.  And I did not get reply to my phone call on her birthday.  Got a little concerned.  Again this year I did not get her phone call on my birthday which comes in later part of July.  I have been calling her with no response.  Finally I decided to check Google to find her children's address. Then from Google I learned her passing away.  I was extremely saddened to know her passing.  I can't believe she is gone.  She was such a dear friend to me for the last 45 years.  While working together, we would take same subway train. When our company moved to Rye Brooke, NY, I would meet her in the Bronx and she would give me ride to work from a subway stop.  I have such a loving feeling for her, and I am in real pain to read her passing away.  I know she will bring charm wherever she is now.  My heartfelt condolences to her children and other siblings, friends and relatives.  Maria, you memories will always be there in my heart, and I will miss you very much.  God bless your soul, and God bless us all who loved you.

You were one of my first friends when I moved to Orlando. You open your arms and heart to me and your family did as well.  At the birth of my son I didn’t hesitate to ask you to be his Madrina. 
Sorry that the last years we were distant but you always had and will have a special place in my heart. I love you so much and going to miss you dearly.

My dearest BFF and sister - Maria,

Close to 29 years ago, God wonderfully orchestrated a time and place for our paths to cross and I am so thankful that he did.  Only He knew the bond we would form and share through the years.  You have been such a blessing in my life.  I will forever remember and cherish our long talks, playing games ‘til the ‘wee hours’ of the morning, our road trips, weekends in The Villages, listening, singing and sometimes even dancing along to ‘the oldies’….and the list goes on and on. We shared SO much!  Even in the kitchen, we were a pair…..you, the fabulous and delicious cook and me, the baker.  Words can not even begin to express how much you meant to me and how much I am going to miss you!  Sleep with the angels, my dear….

My dearest friend Maria;
I will miss our get togethers, be it sharing stories, your crafting, recipes, meals or playing Pokeno. Most of all our travels together laughing, joking and especially our adventures. You would be the one to always get Liz, Jeanette and me to do the craziest of challenges. Like when we went white water rafting, parasailing, zip lining, canoeing and roller skating!!! We had a terrific run. I will cherish it all in wonderful memories. Now Rest In Peace my dearest friend I thank God for the 25+ years of sisterhood. I will never forget you.

Maria was not just a beloved co worker and friend, she was like family to us at Onopa Services. She was the most thoughtful and caring lady and made an empanada that would knock your socks off! She is already deeply missed. We will forever cherish our memories of her.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Blanca Degado.
 
Survivors include Luis & Anne-Marie and Brian & Elizabeth, her sons and daughter-in-laws. Jenna Marie & Luis Jr, Bianca & Brian Anthony, her grandchildren and Jordan her great-grandson. Her beloved pet is Betty. Siblings include Lillian and Lynette Delgado.
