Marion C. Almstedt, 90, of Clermont, Florida, passed away on November 25, 2023. She was born on a farm near Jamesburg, New Jersey on January 13, 1933. In 1950 she met Edward J. Almstedt, who has since passed, in Trenton, NJ, and they were married on April 28, 1951.
Marion had a heart of gold. She naturally and genuinely loved to take care of, help and give to others. She was full of life and would brighten your day when you met her. She loved all types of music and couldn’t resist singing along every chance she could. She also enjoyed a challenging game of Rummy, Scrabble, Word Search and puzzles which helped her mind stay sharp her whole life. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family, especially her "grands” and “great grands" who called her Granny. Those innocent smiles and warm hugs gave her a reason to get up every day.
Marion loved to stay busy and work with people. She had an incredibly diligent work ethic and giving up was never an option. She retired from Red Lobster after 33 years of service and sold Avon for many years. She even managed her own Avon store in Winter Garden, Florida until 2018, one of her proudest career accomplishments.
Marion was survived by her children: Ed Almstedt, Jr., Sandy Grobelny (Eddie), Michael Almstedt (Linda) and Patti Hood. “Granny” had six grandchildren: Katie Sutter (Brian), Jere Almstedt (Paige), Eddie Almstedt III, Emilie Straka (Chris), Alex Hood (Tonya), Lauren Emrick (Edward), and two step grandchildren: Michael Steele and Matthew Steele. Granny also had seven great grandchildren: Jimmy Stetson IV, Ava Sponheimer, Adalida Emrick, Maverick Straka, Jolene Emrick, River Straka, Gunnar Hood and two step, great grandchildren: Rylee Combs and Briana Combs. Marion was also survived by her youngest brother, Butch Cunningham.
Instead of a funeral service, Marion’s wish is for everyone to live each day to the fullest and think of her when you see the color purple. In lieu of flowers please make charitable donations to Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care at cornerstonehospice.org
