Marta G. Rodriguez

MARTA G. RODRIGUEZ, born in Havana, Cuba on June 19, 1917, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2013. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Rafael Rodriguez. Tia Marta lived in Iowa for thirteen years where she taught Spanish together with her husband before moving to Orlando in 1978. She has a Doctorate in Philosophy and Pedagogy from the University of Havana and was the founder and owner of Instituto California in Havana until she left Cuba in 1961. Tia Marta will be remembered by her beautiful work in ceramics, painting and art. She was also an avid grower of roses and vegetables. She lived with her sister Serafina Gonzalez who was by her side constantly until she passed away. Tia Marta is also survived by her brother Mario Gonzalez and his wife, Maria, her nephew Herminio Gonzalez and his wife, Laurie, her niece Belkis Bonavitacola and her husband, Tony of New Jersey.
