Martha was born on November 27, 1920 to the late George Rufus and Alberta Bonnette Antley of Cope, SC. She grew up with her 6 siblings: Cecil, Annie Laurie, Eleanor, Daisy, Nell and Haseltine, and 4 half-siblings: Clinton, Junelle, Johnnie, and Mary Ena, on a cotton farm outside of Orangeburg, SC.
When she was in her twenties, she relocated to Miami, FL to work as a long distance telephone operator with AT&T where she met the love of her life, Alvin Daniel Miller. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage and raised their 4 children in Niagara Falls and Buffalo, NY; Fort Worth, TX and Rockledge, FL. The family moved to Hardee Circle in Rockledge in 1963 and became members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was one of the first residents of Oleander Pointe Condominiums in Cocoa, FL for 18 years following the death of Alvin in 1996.
She welcomed each new resident of Oleander Pointe with homemade bread, cookies, pie or a cake. She enjoyed sitting on her balcony of her home and visiting with her friends and family to watch the space shots or fireworks over the Indian River. Her last 6 years were lived peacefully in Palm Bay, FL with her daughter, Linda, and son-in-law, Dave, on their farm keeping an eye on the horses and chickens, and then in Orlando, FL with her son, Craig, and daughter-in-law, Susan, in their condo overlooking Sand Lake viewing the nightly Disney fireworks.
Survivors include her four children: Linda Huddleston (Dave) of Palm Bay, FL; Craig Miller (Susan) of Orlando, FL; Caroline Hopkins (Stephen) of Savannah, GA; Glenn Miller (Kari) of San Diego, CA; 10 grandchildren: Ken Skonicki (Lori) of Nashville, TN; Karen Kalinowski (David) of Vernon Hills, IL; Tishka Lyna (Erik) of Sorrento, FL; Bradley Miller (Ivey) of Orlando, FL; Jeffrey Miller (Brandi) of Orlando, FL; Whitney Appenfelder (Douglas) of Cumming, GA; Ashley Cetti (Joseph) of Savannah, GA; Hillary Hull (Christopher) of Cumming, GA; Rylee Miller and Charlie Miller of Dallas, TX; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
