Olivia attended Jones High School in Orlando and went on to several training programs one of which was a cooking school where she became the consummate cook.
She was very versatile and branched out into the hotel and tourist industry. This then became her life’s work, cooking in a number of the then prominent tourist hotel and motels.
She was married to George T. Davis and their union was blessed with four children, who all grew to make her very proud. She became widowed in November 1949 and was left to raise the children as a single mother. She worked hard to insure that each child was educated and capable of caring for themselves as independent adults.
Her family was taught to honor God with their lives and as a result, they have all been involved in the various ministries of the church.
When the children grew up, Olivia turned to another favorite vocation as an independent domestic technician.
She served several prominent families in the Orlando area.
Olivia departed this life, Monday June 29, 2015 at Cornerstone Hospice in Clermont, Florida. She leaves to mourn three daughters, Joyce Johnson of Sumter, S.C., Dorothy Swilley of Orlando, Fl., Mamie Parker and husband Charles Parker of St. Cloud, Fl., and her son George T. Davis, Jr. of Orlando, Fl.
Olivia has eleven grand children, ten great grand children and nine great, great grand children and one sister, Ethel Mills, currently of Winter Garden, Fl.
