

Mary J. Maddox, 87, of Orlando, FL passed away on December 5, 2014. She was born on April 18, 1927 in Cordele, Georgia to the late William O. and Mamie Lee (Campbell) Edge. Mary was raised on a farm with her 3 brothers and sister by Christian their parents. She moved to Orlando, FL and attended a much larger school than the four room school house back home. Mary enjoyed going to church and was proud of becoming a Christian and being baptized. She worked at a large department store in downtown Orlando, Dickson & Ives. Mary got married and had their first child along with building and moving into their first home in 1954. Mary and Richard adopted their daughter and had their second son. She always looked forward to her annual family reunion. Mary later worked with the 3 & 4 year old hearing impaired children for 24 ½ years at Rock Lake and Kaley Elementary Schools. She also worked for the American Red Cross and was part of the Gray Ladies at Rock Lake School. Mary received many awards from her Sunday School, Bible School and was an adult teacher and 2nd & 3rd grade teacher in Sunday School as well. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard. Survivors include her children; Obie David, Shawn, Allen (Laura) and Sara Maddox; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
