Megan Desiree Gonsalves was born on the 4th day of January 1950 in Georgetown Guyana. She was the eldest child born to the late Ivelaw and Evelyn Gravesande. Megan immigrated to New York in the 1970s and then moved to Orlando, Florida.
Megan peacefully passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at home at the age of 73. She was surrounded by family upon her departure.
Megan was known as “Mom”, “Grandma”, “Meegz”, and “Aunty Megan”. She loved music and loved to dance. You could find her singing and having fun at a Beres Hammond concert or at a Caribbean Music Festival. Her creativity and intelligence spilled onto the page, always writing In her quiet times. She was hands down the best cook. She always made sure that there was a huge feast prepared for anyone that was visiting. One of her favorite hobbies was sewing. She was such a hardworking woman. She worked as an accountant for Orlando Health for 27 years.
Megan had three children… Sharon “Odetta” Killingsworth (deceased), Keisha Maxwell, Brian Brown. Two grandchildren, Amaya Killingsworth & Noel Smith. Four siblings… Clyde Gravesande, Barbara Cotton, Terrence Gravesande (deceased), Lynette Lawson.
Megan raised a beautiful family that extended much further than her own bloodlines. A great nurturer and lover of life, she inspired and cared for many. She left us far too soon, and we will love and cherish her always.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared for the Gonsalves family in the online guest book below.
