Nancy Lee Wingate Groover was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 8th, 1946. She was the third of four daughters of Charles and Doris Wingate. Her family moved to Winter Park, Florida when she was 10 years old. When she was 25 years old she met and married Wayne Lee Groover while teaching together at Ivey Lane Elementary School. Soon after, she heard the gospel at the funeral of her principal’s 11 year old son. She gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and accepted His free gift of salvation through repentance. This decision changed her life immediately, and she found joy in studying the Bible and worshiping with God’s people at First Alliance Church in Orlando, Florida. She gave birth to Jennifer Caroline Groover on February 13th, 1976, and then Charles Wingate Groover on January 28th, 1978. Being a mother to her children was her absolute delight. Mothering came naturally to her and she wanted nothing more than to take care of her home and family. She was faithful to teach her children the truth she had found in Christ. The testimony of her life before finding salvation and after was dramatic. She had finally been set free in her spirit and God was gracious to grant her a new life. As her family grew up, she started to experience several painful physical conditions that prevented her from being involved in many activities outside of the home. Through her trials, she remained steadfast in her trust in the LORD. She knew that God often asks his servants to cross deep waters on this earth, but also promised that Heaven would be worth it all for His children. Although her suffering continued, when Caroline married Webb Wright and Charles married Brandie Bannon, she found joy knowing her children were happy. With the addition of Charles’s children; Ethan Douglas and Carly Angilene, and Caroline’s children; Carson Wayne, Thomas Oliver, Luke Everette, and Karis Marie, her life was even more fulfilled and her joy in them was a blessing to see. Her husband, Wayne, cared for her every step of her journey and was one of God’s greatest gifts to her here on earth. Nancy passed away on Thursday, September 5th, 2024. She is pain free forever.
A funeral service for Nancy will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, FL 34734.
