

Tomaszewski, Norman, age 83 of Orlando, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016. He was born on August 17, 1932 in Hamtramck, Michigan. He moved to Orlando as a teenager. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Thomas and John; daughters-in-law, Cherryl and Sandie; grandson, Paul; and brothers, Leonard and William. He is preceded in death by his father, Ignace and mother, Mary. A gifted baseball player, Norman was signed to a minor league contract with the Hazlehurst-Baxley Tigers, a St. Louis Cardinals affiliate in March 1951. That same year, he volunteered in the United States Air Force to serve in the Korean War as a Munitions Maintenance Specialist assigned to a B-29 bomber Group. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in May 1955. Norman went to work for the Orlando Utilities Commission in 1958 and after 31 years of service, he retired in April 1989 as a Line Supervisor for OUC’s Underground Construction and Maintenance Department. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00-8:00pm. Interment with Military Honors will begin at the Woodlawn Chapel the following day, Thursday, March 24, at 10:00am.
