He earned a Bachelors Degree and a Diploma in Education from the University of Guyana, as well as a Masters Degree in Economics from Brooklyn College, NY.
Pandit married Gomati in 1952. He was an educator by profession, and the founder and spiritual leader of the Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir.
He is survived by his children, Shri, Amar, Prem, Ram, Rud, Vigir and Dean; grandchildren, Geeta, Sunil, Priya, Satesh, Darshar, Sharda, Ganesh, Sandhya, Kavita, Shakti, Artie, Shobha, Neeta, Usha, Daven, Krishna, Arvin, Vinood and Radha; his great grandchildren, Asha, Jaya, Amba, Aadi, Ajay, Anjali, Simi, Navin, Davina, Anushka, Sanjana, Eshan, Nandini, Jeevan, Varun, Avani, Isha, Aayush, Sonia, Raina, Jiya, Yusuf, Alyena and Anjani and his siblings, Ramshai and Charai (Lillie).
A funeral service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, located at 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, Florida, 34734, United States. The service is scheduled for February 2, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:45 am.
