Richard "Rick" Lee Matthews

Richard “Rick” Lee Matthews, 69, of Ocoee, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023. Rick was born on February 25, 1954, in Jackson, MS to Leroy and Jaunell Matthews. He moved to Tulsa, Ok, where he met and married Kathy White on April 2, 1980. It was here where he spent most of his life and started a family.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Matthews; 4 children: Rick Matthews Jr, wife Grace; Christy Stephens, husband Edward; Jason Matthews, wife Sarah; Jeffrey Matthews, girlfriend Annette; 9 grandchildren: Lauren and her husband Benjamin LaCasse, Kaitlin, Colton, Emma, Hope, Drew, Deedee, Alex, and Lily;

He will be remembered most for his love for his family and his kind heart. “Papa” loved watching his grandchildren more than anything. He loved cars, music, the beach, rocket launches, and spending time with his beloved dog, Tatum. Rick will forever be in our hearts.

A funeral service for Rick will be held Monday, October 23, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
