My sincerest condolences to all the members of Sal's family.  

I knew Sal back in Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn when everyone called him "Sally Boy".  My parents and I used to go fishing out of the Stella Maris fishing station and I would occasionally work with Sal on the weekends in the early 50's.  He always had a smile behind the sunglasses he wore and had a nice easy sense of humor.  I was surprised and happy to learn the he had broken away from the Brooklyn life and set out on his own to open the restaurant in Orlando.  Sorry to have not been in touch with him as we both aged.

Rest in peace Uncle Sal.   I will never forget your beautiful smile which always lit up the room.  I will miss all of our beautiful holidays we spent together, watching sports, laughing and of course eating Aunt Antionette's delicious food.  I will love you always. Dearest Dad,

To the man who taught me how to drive a car, catch a fish, swing a golf club and catch a football. 

You and mom lived the American Dream together. You educated us, provided for us, and protected us. You were there for us during the highest highs and the lowest lows. 

You had a big personality and you never took life sitting down. I will never forget all the funny stories you told me about growing up in Brooklyn. To all the people you spent time with, there was never a dull moment. You were truly "larger than life."  

All the best qualities you instilled in us, still live on through our everyday actions. The great coach Bo Schembechler once said of Woody Hayes "That guy was a hell of a man."  That's the way I will always remember you dad. I love you dad. We miss you already. May you rest in eternal peace. 

I first met Sal when I was 13 years old and he asked my mother ( Betty ) who was a server at the Cafe’ for 18 years if I would like to bus tables on the weekends,  I was super excited to have a paying job and said oh yeah, and from busser  to working in the kitchen with Sal until I graduated high school , I remember and learned  a lot from Sal and think about those years quite often, Sal will truly be missed by hundreds if not thousands of people, who’s lives he touched, and will always be with me in spirit. 

Sal is one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life. No matter how tough the day would get at the restaurant, I could always rely on Sal to crack me up and lighten the mood. His love for his family was such a beautiful thing to see and I hope it fills all of your hearts and guides you through these times. 
All of my love to the Lauro Family now and always.

Rest in Peace , Dad.  I wished this day would never come but i believe you in a better place now.  The best Dad a man could ask for, always there when needed to guide you through the thick and thin situations that life brings us.  You will be  in our hearts forever, till we meet again.

In honor of the man who taught me how to play checkers and how to catch a baseball.
Taught me about sacrifice and hard work.
How to take care of your family and how to have a good time no matter what was happening around you.
What a crazy character....his family and employees know what I mean.
One of a kind, unforgettable, a unique individual, what else can you say? 
I used to always think he was a simple guy, and in some ways he was. ......but, as I think back on my life with him....he was  actually very complex.
Maybe didn't say it enough.....Love you Dad!


Dear Aunt Antoinette, Michael,James, and Joseph,
              We are praying for God's comfort and peace to be with you all during this time of grief and remembrance. We grieve at this tremendous loss, but are hearts are warmed by the great memories of Uncle Sal, his humor, and love for his whole family. Memories of the restaurant, and at your home eating, and talking, and eating, and laughing, and eating! With all the love and joy, and peace, we felt in our hearts! The Bible teaches that believers are not immune to grief or mourning, but it also says that we do not mourn as others who have no hope... And what is that hope? That our loved one is right now in the presence of God and loved ones who have gone on before.
What a reunion awaits all of us!

Sal was always friendly and kind to Steve and I during our many years of patronage at Cafe Italiano.  He also treated our daughter Jessica like a member of the family during her years of service at their restaurant. 
Our condolences to Anne, Michael, James and Joseph. May the Lord give you the needed strength during this difficult time.
