

Shirley Esther Golden, of Lake Mary FL, succumbed to cancer on June 7, 2012, She was born in Syracuse, NY, on May 17, 1924, to Lillian and Martin Becker. Shirley was predeceased by her sister, Muriel Hammer and her brother, Marvin Becker. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Leon Golden; brothers Dr. Stanley Becker, Standish, ME and Gary Becker, Heathrow, FL; a number of nieces and nephews. She graduated Syracuse University, as a Licensed Practical Nurse, where she met her husband. She was an avid reader and aficionado of mystery writers. She loved music, especially the big bands and Frank Sinatra. She loved to dance. She travelled extensively, with her husband, in Europe and the U.S. While her husband was employed at Langley Air Force Base, she was active in the Officer’s Club, which included her participating in many plays and style shows. Even though she craved peace and serenity, she loved the sound of jet engines and readily identified military aircraft. She was supportive of causes that supported our military, especially Vietnam veterans. She was a member of the Congregation of Reform Judaism.

A Graveside service will be held at the Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery, Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL, on Sunday, June 10th, at 9:30 a.m. The family requests that gifts be made to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 2201 Lucien Way, Suite 100, Maitland, FL 32751.
