

Sylvia Jowers, 74, passed away at her home in Orlando, FL on February 29, 2016. Sylvia is pre deceased by her parents Vincent and Virginia Galati. Sylvia is survived by her children Craig Jowers and Angela Jowers. She is also survived by her brother Bruce Galati and her granddaughter Courtney Jowers and several other family members.
Sylvia was born in Bradford, PA and was a graduate of St. Bernard High School in Bradford. Upon graduating high school, Sylvia joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. When Sylvia was discharged from the Navy, she moved to Buffalo, NY. While in Buffalo she became a competitive archer and won several championships and awards.
Sylvia then decided to make her way south to Orlando to escape the cold winters. Her intention was to get a job at Walt Disney World, which had recently opened. Her dream finally became a reality many years later after getting married and raising a family.
Sylvia was employed for 17 years at WDW as a bus driver and retired in 2007. She loved driving a bus there and helping the guests. Sylvia received many accolades for her superior guest service at WDW over her years of employment. Sylvia couldn't have been happier at any other job.
For many years while she was employed at WDW, she decided to start playing pool. She played on several teams, several times a week. She became good enough to win a trip to play in Las Vegas.
After Sylvia's retirement in 2007, she found a new calling....rescuing cats. She bottle raised at least 15 cats and would have taken more in if she could.
Sylvia passed as she wished, at her home, surrounded by family and friends.
Services for Sylvia will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home on Friday 3/4/16. Viewing will be from 1:30-2:30 with a graveside service immediately following the viewing.
