Orlando, Florida
Sysela Balin was born in Haute-Guinaudée in the department of Grand-Anse. She was the daughter of Lemonier René and Lysela Altidor. She was the last surviving sibling out of nine. She left Jeremie to pursue a career in fashion. She was a graduate of the prestigious fashion school of Mme. Dumoulin. She was 2nd Laureate in her class. She married Arnold Balin in 1964 and two children were born from their union: Marie Denise and Sheebaah Pascaline Balin.
She was loved by all, and she loved and helped everyone. She was the one in the neighborhood everyone came to for advice, help, matchmaking... Her house was open to all, where there was a hot meal or some refreshment.
She left her country due to political and economic instability; she lived in Queens, New York, Miami, Key West, and lastly Orlando, Florida.
She started getting sick in 2011 after a fall. She had surgery in 2013, was in a coma, and suffered three strokes thereafter. She endured all with courage and grace. Her faith was her anchor.
Sysela was a devoted Catholic, but she was not limited by religion. She saw the best in people. She loved God with all her heart. She enjoyed music, talking, meeting, and helping people. She welcomed everyone to her home.
After the surgery, she was always in pain. She passed way on the afternoon of May 13th and left behind her beloved daughter, Pascaline, grandchild, Ernestine and husband James Worsely, and great grandchildren, Anya Pascaline and Jaeden, whom she loved dearly. She remained calm and serene, and trusted God in all her suffering.
Sysela was a Woman of God.
She was kind, friendly, generous, courageous, full of life and love. May she rest in peace.
II Timothy 4:7
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
