

Thais Burt, 93, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on January 9, 2025. She was born in Orlando, Florida, to Floyd and Carrie Wingert, and was the oldest of six children. Thais married later in life to James Burt, with whom she shared 6 joyful years. While she did not have children of her own, she was a cherished aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved as if they were her own. A lifelong member of South Ferncreek Community Church, Thais served the Lord with dedication and passion. She was the church pianist for many years, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and volunteered with Vacation Bible School, among other roles. Thais also did work with the Brethren Volunteer Service in Tennessee where she provided support to the church with her teaching, preaching and musical talents. Her heart for service touched all who knew her.
Thais was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Carrie Wingert; her husband, Jim Burt; her brothers Kenneth Wingert, Milton Wingert, and Sheldon Wingert; her stepdaughter Janice Meek; and her step-granddaughter Trina Meek.
She is survived by her brothers Lamar Wingert and Vernon Wingert; her stepdaughter Judy Burt; her step-grandson Joey Meister; her step-great grandson Megregor Meek; and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Thais leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and service. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at South Ferncreek Community Church on January 14th at 6:00pm.
