Tiana was a remarkable individual whose light shone brightly, not only at the Zucker School of Medicine but throughout her home community of Uniondale and beyond. From an early age, her fierce determination and ambition were evident and inspired many. In high school, Tiana made history as the first female on Uniondale High School's Junior Varsity football team, a testament to her determination and ambition. She was also on the track team, a member of the marching band, and a proud inductee of the National Honor Society.
Driven by a desire to help others, Tiana set her sights on a career in anesthesiology. Her journey with the ZSOM community began when she was accepted into our Medical Scholars Pipeline Program, from which she excelled and graduated in 2013, the same year she graduated in the top 10 percent of her class at Uniondale High School. She then pursued her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Miami, where she was an active member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Minority Women in Medicine, and the Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority. In 2018, she completed a post-Baccalaureate in Medicine at the University at Buffalo.
Tiana began her medical education at ZSOM in 2018. As a member of the Class of 2022, Tiana was a passionate advocate for equity, participating in groups such as the Student National Medical Association, National Minority Association of Pre-Medical/Health Students, and Allied Black Students. She worked tirelessly to dismantle systemic racism within health care and medical education. Tiana graduated in 2022, walking across the commencement stage with confidence, ready to embark on the next chapter of her medical career.
Tiana was in her fourth year of an anesthesiology residency at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She was known for her bright spirit and dedication throughout her residency. Colleagues described her as a "great team player" and an "incredibly hard worker," dedicated to "taking the very best care of her patients."
She had a passion for food, traveling and do it yourself home improvements.
Tiana is survived by her mother, Juliet Hudson, sister, Amber Jerman; and grandparents, Karl and Dawn Hudson
