

Victoria Marie "Vicky" Ball, 91, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Victoria was born May 20, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Dr. Michael David Gammell, an optometrist, and Victoria Marie Matthews Gammell. Vicky worked in various positions in Chicago including The Museum of Science and Industry and as a comptometer operator. Later, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Ball, a Naval pilot, on September 15, 1948 and devoted much of her time raising their five children. Vicky was ever the optimist who was fun-loving, enjoyed gardening, reading, music, oil painting, and especially children. Her volunteer opportunities included working in the junior high and high school clinic, teaching Sunday School, and fund raising for the WPHS crew team. She supported many charitable organizations that were close to her heart including the ASPCA, various Native American charities, World Wildlife Fund, Operation Smile (cleft palate), and the Winter Park Presbyterian Church to name a few. She is predeceased by her husband, Bob, of 53 years and her oldest son William. Mourning her loss are four surviving children, Laurel McNear (Paul), James Ball (loving caretaker of Vicky), Barbara Beem (Steve), and Marguerite Thomas (Steve); her precious grandchildren, Eric Matherson (Jennifer), Kathleen Phillips (Todd), Tessa Beem, and Ethan Thomas; and sweet great-grandchild, Olivia Phillips. Visitation will be held, Saturday, June 8th, 12:00:12:45 with internment to follow at 1:00 at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, FL 34734. Celebration of Life Service will be held June 8th at 3:00 pm at the Winter Park Presbyterian Church, 400 South Lakemont Ave, W.P., FL 32792. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the WP Presbyterian Church Building Fund or any of the above mentioned charities.
