

Born to Walter and Ida Chapman, he was raised in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, where he attended school, and was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He later studied at Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois, and also served two years in the Wisconsin National Guard.
On May 1st,1941, he married Germaine H. Scholten. He worked as a field service engineer for 30 years for the C.V. Hill Corp. in Trenton, New Jersey, and traveled the country doing so. After retiring from the Hill Corporation, he took a teaching position at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Walter was an active church member throughout his life, serving in various capacities, such as teaching Sunday School classes and serving on the consistory, and was also a member of the Christian Business Men’s fellowship while living in Wisconsin.
From his early childhood, Walter loved music, and became a proficient musician, playing several different instruments and teaching private music lessons. In 1988 he and his family moved to the west coast of Florida, where he enjoyed playing in three orchestras. After a subsequent move to central Florida, he expressed his love and devotion to his Lord and Savior by writing the lyrics and music to hundreds of Christian songs. He was a member of Orangewood Presbyterian Church in Maitland, Florida.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon, of Ocoee, Florida, his grandson Steven (Jennifer) Chapman of Minneola, Florida, his nephew Ralph (Sally) Roepke of Waunakee, Wisconsin, his great niece Susan ((Werner) Gade, of Waunakee, Wisconsin, his great nephew Jeff (Cathy) Roepke, of Rochester, Minnesota, special niece, Faye (James) Maersch of West Bend, Wisconsin, and great nephew Mitchell Maersch of West Bend, Wisconsin.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Germaine, his brother Harvey Chapman, his sister Irene Chapman Roepke, his half-sister, Lillian Roepke, his nephew Donald G. Roepke, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Elmer Hopeman.
Private arrangements have been entrusted to Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida.
