Walter will be forever lovingly missed and is survived by his two daughters: Melissa and Melanie Harris as well as his two step daughters: Kellie (Redding) Lewis and Traci (Myron) Rolling, his brothers: Roy Harris of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Clyde Harris of Summerfield, Florida and sister: Barbara (Harris) Stoker of Gold Spring, Texas. Walter will also be forever remembered by his precious four grandchildren, Robin, Rhiannon, Elizabeth and Justin. Walter was predeceased by his parents, Rodney and Sadie (Priester) Harris and wife, Karen Harris.
Walter was a native Floridian, born in the town of Sanford, Florida, February 25, 1937 to Rodney and Sadie (Priester) Harris.
Walter served in the Armed Forces, Army division and was a true patriotic American.
He retired as a Service Manager for Great Dane Trailers in Orlando, Florida after 30 years. He loved to help his customers and employees with any situation or hardship just because it was the right thing to do. He was a people person. In earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and softball with his fellow co-workers.
Walter was a Master Mason 33rd Degree Scottish Rite, a Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star and a devout Shriner. He volunteered, served with and helped his fellow mason brothers and eastern star sisters through the masonic order and no task was too big.
Walter never met a stranger. He took pride in always putting smiles on those who barely knew him and tons of laughter to those who knew him the most. He was a shining force to bring people out of any sad situation. He loved to be a silly, little prankster and make people giggle when they tried to be too serious. He lived life to the fullest. He was very generous and would help others at all times. He loved to help his neighbors and in earlier years would mow many neighbors’ yards on his riding mower, just because.
His kindness and compassion for humanity was second to none. He loved animals and humans alike. His pride and joy started with his beloved daughters, stepdaughters and extended to his loving grandchildren.
He was a gentle giant with a heart of gold and loved everyone, unless you did one his daughters wrong, then the RED came out of him.
Walters journey through life has left an everlasting footprint in the hearts of many. His love, humor, courage and strength were a true character of his legacy and will be an inspiration to those who knew him and loved him dearly.
